Joanna Briar Prints

I am a printmaker living in Somerset, UK.  I have been printing for five years working from my home studio.  I work with lino and wood to create my printing blocks which are then printed onto Somerset paper or Japanese Shoji paper using my vintage book press.  I also work with acrylic and metal plates to create drypoint etchings.

My work reflects the beautiful countryside surrounding my home and quotations that inspire me.  I love carving into the surface of lino and wood and exploring the different marks that can be made.  There is nothing more exciting than lifting the paper for the first time on a freshly-inked block and seeing what impressions have been created.

I took part in Somerset Art Works Open Studios in 2014 and in 2017.  In 2015, I exhibited work in Seavington Stores and Cafe and had solo exhibitions at Ninesprings in Yeovil at the end of 2015 and at Nynehead Court near Wellington in 2016.  I have exhibited work in galleries in Shepton Mallet, Portishead and Somerton.  I have also had individual pieces displayed in Bath RUH, Black Swan Arts in Frome (Secret Swans Trail and 1000 Postcards).

I am also able to work on commissions and would love to hear from you.
